Amazon is in hot water in Quebec as some Prime members are fed up with late deliveries. A proposed class-action lawsuit claims the online giant isn’t keeping its promise of two-day shipping, a big perk that comes with the $99-a-year Prime membership. Filed in late February 2025, the case blames Amazon’s closure of all seven Quebec warehouses in January for the slowdown. Shoppers like Jean Desnoyers, who’s leading the charge, say packages now take four or five days—or more—instead of two, leaving them frustrated and out of pocket for a service they’re not getting.
The lawsuit argues Amazon should’ve warned customers about the longer wait times after shutting down its local warehouses and switching to third-party delivery services. Desnoyers and others want their membership fees refunded for the months when two-day shipping wasn’t possible, plus extra cash for the hassle. With about 48,000 Prime members in Quebec possibly affected, this could turn into a big headache for Amazon. For now, the court still needs to approve the case, but it’s already got logistics watchers wondering how this might affect online shopping promises everywhere.
