In the 18 months since the first shipment of vaccines trialed in October 2020, Emirates SkyCargo has transported over 1 billion doses of Covid-19 vaccines.
As early as August 2020, Emirates SkyCargo was one of the first global air freight carriers to start mapping the global logistics for the movement of prospective Covid-19 vaccinations. Emirates said in October 2020 that it would set up a separate GDP-certified airside hub for the shipping of Covid-19 vaccinations. During the same month, Emirates’ cargo division, in collaboration with its logistics partners, delivered trial supplies of Covid-19 vaccinations through Dubai.

In June 2021, Emirates SkyCargo upgraded their pharma cool chain facilities at Dubai International Airport, allowing them to store between 60 and 90 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines at any given moment. Emirates SkyCargo facilitated the transfer of higher amounts of vaccines from production origins to destinations, reaching 250 million doses by September 2021 and 600 million doses by December 2021, as part of the worldwide scaling up of vaccine distribution and administration.
